Hydrogen Dual Fuel

Hydrogen Dual Fuel

Transforming Carbon Emissions in Commercial Vehicle Applications

ULEMCo’s primary product, is a globally unique hydrogen dual-fuel approach, H2ICED®, that allows hydrogen to be mixed with diesel directly in a conventional engine, supplied via onboard gas tanks, in volumes that displace between 30-70% of the energy from diesel. This gives a direct tailpipe CO2 emission savings based on the comparative use of zero carbon hydrogen instead of diesel.

Unique H2ICED® Dual Fuel Technology

The Benefits

Dual Fuel Technology

We don’t change the base engine so both performance and operational reliability of a converted vehicle is assured; it will continue to run in diesel if no hydrogen is available and the engine calibration is set so that when using dual fuel, the driver doesn’t notice a difference.

Back-to-Base Performance

The key to making renewable “green” hydrogen viable is to maximise volumes through the refuelling infrastructure; heavy-duty, back-to-base operations are ideally suited to scaled volumes for onsite generation and maximum carbon emission reductions.

Cost-effective Solution

By using existing engine technology, the cost of becoming hydrogen enabled is minimal in comparison to other low emission options, which provides a great first step into achieving substantial emission reduction, now, whilst other technologies are still in development or too expensive.

Multi-vehicle Applications

Our dual fuel technology can be applied to any engine, and any vehicle can be hydrogen enabled depending on the space on board for hydrogen storage. This means that whole fleets can be considered for conversion to maximise local “green” hydrogen production.

The Conversion Process

Using hydrogen energy instead of conventional fuel delivers significant carbon emission reduction, as well as “real-world” air quality improvements. We offer conversions directly or as kits to our authorised partners, installed locally for clients.

For any vehicle fleet or opportunity, ULEMCo converts vehicles to become hydrogen-enabled, implementing the following, as and when applicable.

Energy Usage

Carrying out an assessment of the energy use of the existing operation and fleet.

Hydrogen Refuelling

Advising on the opportunities for hydrogen refuelling which can include on-site facilities and/or national refuelling stations.

Storage Capacity

Conducting an engineering review of the packaging options suitable for on-board hydrogen storage capacity.

Calibration and Installation

Completing a one-off engine calibration excercise and installing an optimised-for-use hydrogen system.
