ULEMCo Supports Water Breakthrough Challenge

ULEMCo is supporting an innovative and important project awarded funding through Ofwat’s latest Water Breakthrough Challenge, helping to explore new ways of turning waste water into valuable resources. The project, led by United Utilities, will see us upgrade an existing large vehicle to run on hydrogen, and will be another demonstration of the clean fuel in a transport application.

Significantly. this exciting £multi-million project points the way to the production of zero emission hydrogen cost effectively from waste water biogas. It is an important example of the system-wide approach that is required to address energy resilience and security.

Amanda Lyne, MD of ULEMCo says: “Making the full hydrogen supply chain work, including innovative ways to use all the resources associated with sustainable production, is fundamental to economic success. We are looking forward to being part of this excellent project!”

Ofwat is the economic regulator of the UK water sector.
